Pupil Premium

In April 2010 the Government introduced the Pupil Premium to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals and others.  This additional funding is allocated to Ely College to spend on children from low-income families who were known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), and also to children who had been in Local Authority Care continuously for more than six months.

Narrowing the gap for students that receive Pupil Premium funding is a high priority for Ely College.  For the academic year 2017-18 Ely College has a total of 229 students in receipt of Pupil Premium funding as of September 2017, and receives a total of £193,545.  This will be used to support all students that meet the criteria for this funding as well as others needing additional support.  In accordance with the College’s Improvement plan the funding will be distributed in the following way:

This additional Pupil Premium funding will be spent on the following:

  • Lead Practitioner Creativity

  • Tutoring

  • Behaviour Mentors

  • Attendance Support

  • Lunchtime Activities and Support

  • LAC Support

  • Enhancement of Curriculum Offer

  • Literacy Support

  • Numeracy Support

  • Form Time Spelling Challenge

  • Lads and Dads, Mums and Sons Evenings

  • The Brilliant Club

  • Pre and During Exam Period Support

  • Holiday Programmes

  • Extra Curricular Menu of Opportunity Development

  • Equipment Referrals, Resources, Books etc

Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Fund

The Literacy and Numeracy catch-up premium provides schools with an additional £500 for each Year 7 pupil who did not achieve a least Level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of Key Stage 2.

Taken from Raisonline, we have analysed the data, looking specifically at where students underachieved on certain questions and tailored our interventions accordingly.

  • Reading Catch Up Programmes

  • After school intervention sessions

  • Premier League Reading Stars Programme

  • Small group withdrawal sessions
